Cost of college went up for all students at Westmoreland County Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.8 percent for 2018-19 at Westmoreland County Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $9,348 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $258 more than the $9,090 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 42.7 percent more than residents this year, or $13,338. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 4.1 percent from $12,810 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents.

Data shows 81 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 502 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.8 million and 318 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (4,848), 2,171 students used grants or scholarships totaling $8.7 million, and 1,757 students took out $10.7 million in federal student loans.
