Cost of college went up for all students at Pennsylvania State University-Penn State New Kensington

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.1 percent for 2018-19 at Pennsylvania State University-Penn State New Kensington, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $13,702 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $8 more than the $13,694 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 59.7 percent more than residents this year, or $21,886. Their price tag grew 2.6 percent from $21,328 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents. About 4 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 107 students received grants or scholarships totaling $684,361 and 90 students took out student loans totaling more than $624,162.

Including all undergraduates (585), 486 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.5 million, and 349 students took out $2.2 million in federal student loans.
